She turned pro in 2007 following an impressive professional career as a college golfer at the University of Texas El Paso. Mendoza was a contestant on The Big Break, a reality-TV show on Golf Channel.    Childhood and professional life  Born in Roswell, New Mexico, Gerina Mendoza attended Goddard High School and won the state championship golf in 2003. She was also an all-state volleyball athlete.    In 2003, she was enrolled in the University of Texas at El Paso.
